Bringing a Handgun from the States?
« on: July 29, 2015, 10:34:35 PM »
What procedures or rules must be followed to bring over a couple handguns with me during my move to Puerto Rico? I am a US Citizen and will be moving to the island soon for work.  Am I even allowed to do this?

We shipped ours via UPS next day, to ourselves.  I was here...husband was still in the states.  Problem is, we did not ship ammo.  Thought we could buy it here.  Nope.  You need a license for that.  So, it depends on if you want to pay for the license.  And, in order to join a club and practice, you need one, too.  Just an FYI.  Seems the criminals have all the guns and ammo, though.  I would say, if you want your gun for home defense, ship yourself ammo from the states.  Oh, from what I hear, firing your weapon, without the proper license, can be complicated...but, in the case of a home invasion, and self-defense, I will take that risk over being raped or killed.
